Responsibilities:
? Conduct air, water, solid waste and fence line noise sampling assessment programs. Coordinate the preparation, scheduling, and submittal of all water, air, solid waste operating and construction permits
? Evaluate proposed capital projects for environmental impact and specify follow-up requirements. Specify and/or assist in the design of environmental control facilities.
? Explain the terms and conditions of environmental permits, and requirements of environmental rules and regulations to operations personnel so everyone understands the requirements. Perform periodic inspections/audits to evaluate compliance with those requirements.
? Interact with Federal State and Local regulatory agencies to resolve issues concerning Emission Events, reports, and agency investigations.
? Keep up to date with regulatory changes. Establish and maintain systems to ensure they are incorporated into plant operations with SOPs, recommendations and/or equipment changes. Support the plant's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
Requirements:
? Bachelor Degree (4 year) in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related science. Technical degree is required in order to enable complete.
? Professional certification (e.g. Certified Hazardous Materials Manager; Qualified Environmental Professional or equivalent) is desired.
? Minimum 2 years’ experience in environmental in the combined areas of Air, Waste and Wastewater in the chemical or related industries or areas.
? Familiarity with air, water, waste regulations and the skills needed to read, interpret, identify applicability to processes or equipment, and apply the requirements to a facility in procedures, work instructions or recommendations for modifications or new projects.
? Strong knowledge of country, Federal, State and Local safety and environmental law and regulations.
? Organizational skills, the ability to prioritize projects, to recognize and resolve technical or procedural conflicts, to communicate well with internal/external contacts.
? Skills in emissions calculations and use of computer software a must, especially Excel, Access and Word.
? Basic knowledge of sanitary sewage treatment.
